In today's fast-paced world, the quest for holistic well-being has taken center stage. More people are turning inward, seeking time-tested traditions to better understand their own bodies and health. Ayurveda, an ancient system of health and well-being, beautifully integrates mystical wisdom with practical applications, making it an ideal guide for today's self-care enthusiast.
Ayurveda, often referred to as the "Science of Life," is rooted in the ancient Indian texts known as the Vedas, a collection of spiritual knowledge dating back thousands of years. Its mystical origin intertwines with philosophy, spirituality, and profound insights into human nature and the cosmos. This sacred tradition emphasizes the balance between body, mind, and spirit through universal principles aligning with the natural rhythms of the world.
Despite its mystical roots, Ayurveda provides straightforward guidelines that make understanding our bodies easier. It identifies three fundamental energies or doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—forming the core of its philosophy. These doshas are present in everyone in varying degrees and are responsible for our unique physiological, mental, and emotional characteristics. By assessing these energies, Ayurveda brings clarity to personal health, helping individuals tailor their lifestyles to maintain equilibrium.
With a surge of interest in natural wellness, Ayurveda offers a treasure trove of insights applicable to contemporary self-care routines. It advocates for daily habits and dietary choices that not only nourish the body but also promote mental clarity and spiritual growth. Ayurveda embraces simplicity, using everyday practices such as mindful eating, herbal remedies, and breathwork, cultivated over centuries. These practices empower individuals to take charge of their health and well-being, paving the path to a balanced life full of vitality and peace.
Explore the mystical and practical world of Ayurveda to unlock the secrets of your health. Begin your journey today, and discover how this ancient wisdom can enhance your life in the modern self-care landscape.
~My Ayurvedic Journey~
Several therapies are used as part of a treatment and include herbs, aromatherapy, massage, and specialized diets.
It has been modified in recent years for use in the spa setting; such as facial treatments, body scrubs, and massages. This is where my journey started.
Ayurvedic doctors (like Deepak Chopra), have as much education and training as our regular allopathic doctors.
Although, like our medical system, there are many levels within Ayurveda; doctors, practitioners, counselors, therapists, skincare, massage, and even cooks! I am not an Ayurvedic doctor, but as a Licensed Massage Therapist, Practicing Herbalist/Wiccan, and ex-cosmetologist, use the tools of herbs, oils and massage to open a door to a new way of thinking about you, nature and your body! Plus, being immersed into the cultural and daily cooking with my husband's family helped me learn and understand more.
Ayurveda flourishes in the tropical southern state of India, known as Kerala. I traveled there to attend a week long conference full of workshops and education. It's a beautiful destination. And boy, did I get to experience and bring home some great swag! I even made the local paper for the event!
I became Certified as an Ayurvedic Massage Therapist in August 2018 through Kairali Ayurveda Center in Mumbai, India.
I trained in 5 specialized techniques.
Me, Dr. Shiney and the entire staff below. I suggest we have a fun last day and had them all dress in traditional Kerala costume while we danced to some Bollywood songs from my Dance workout! They all had a total blast!
The key principles of this system of energetic medicine and treatment concern the idea of an underlying universal energetic interconnectedness, the body's constitution, and a triad of life forces known as the three "Doshas". It's main purpose is to rebalance the body's skin and internal organs through the application of herbs, oils, creams, massage and exfoliation. If you would like to find your "Dosha", take the Dosha Quiz (from my Herbal Supplement & Oil supplier, Banyan Botanicals).
You can email me the results when you sign up for the course as we will be going over this!
